Caitlin and I went to San Francisco for a few days to celebrate her 17th birthday, albeit a few weeks late! The highlight of our trip was hanging with our cousin Sarah (my dad's sister's younger daughter). She picked us up at our hotel in San Francisco (what a luxury to not have to fight for a cab or ride on a cold cable car!) and drove us to Tiburon, where we enjoyed wine at an eatery on the waterfront. Then we went to the Cottage Eatery, just up the street, for some wonderful food. Sarah's boyfriend Dave met us there, and the four of us laughed, talked, cried and reminisced for several hours.

Sarah and I had not seen each other since my wedding, which was seven years ago in December. Family like this is priceless. We are able to pick up where we left off, and realize how much love we all have for "the family." Sounds like the mob, doesn't it!!

Caitlin kept pointing out similarities between Sarah and me, which were kind of eerie. We have the same hands, arms, legs, skin, hair and eye color. We also crack our necks and discovered that a fixation with soft blankets runs deep in our family :) What a blessing it was to be with our sweet cousin. And we loved Dave, too!
